WelcomeWelcome to the Website of the Province Priory of Essex for the Masonic Orders of the Knights Templar and the Knights of Malta under the overall authority of the Great Priory of England and Wales and its Provinces Overseas based at Mark Masons' Hall in London. The Province of Essex was constituted in 1930 and is approximately equal to the County of Essex and there are 24 Preceptories which meet under its jurisdiction. Meetings are held at 17 different Masonic centres from Chingford in the west to Clacton on its eastern coast and from Saffron Walden on the Suffolk border to Southend-on-Sea on its boundary with the River Thames, with one Preceptory meeting in Central London. Membership of the Order is made up of Christian Freemasons, who are Craft Master Masons and Royal Arch Companions and who profess a belief in the Trinitarian Christian Faith. Within the Province we have in excess of some 700 swords (multiple memberships) made up of more than 500 individual knights. If you are already a Mason, but not a member of this particular Order, we hope you will learn a little about the Knights Templar Order, its history and what membership of the Order entails from this website. If your interest is stirred you can also find out where and when our Preceptories meet, and who to contact in order to find out more information and also how to join the Order by being ''Installed'' as a Knight in a Preceptory. If you are already a member of the Knights Templar, then exploring this site will help you to keep up to date with everything that is going on in the Province of Essex. This will include not only the events that are to take place but also reports and photos of those that have already occurred. There are also links and other contact details available. R.E.Kt. Roger Smith Provincial Prior of Essex
