History
A Preceptory named after a Knight who was the first Eminent Preceptor of Maplestead Preceptory -
the oldest Preceptory in Essex - and who succeeded the Rev. Felix E Crate upon his death as the
second Provincial Prior. When the Province had been founded in 1930 Arthur Dentith was invested
as the Provincial Sub-Prior, an office he would serve in for the next 18 years, so perhaps it was only
fitting that he finally suceeded his illustrious friend. A highly respected KT Mason Arthur had
served as Great Treasurer before taking over as Provincial Prior - an office he would occupy for the
next eight years.
In all Arthur served the KT Province of Essex for 26 continuous years - a remarkable feat.
